Increasing "meaningless violence", burning Parisian suburbs, excessive drug abuse, moral decline... If we should believe the predictions of religious fanatics and out-of-date political ideologists, economic instability aims the Western world at its end. The so-called disintegration or ` Americanisation of the society would be a consequence of the growing social uncertainty and the lack of perspective. Of course unemployment grows, of course social cuts follow one after the other and of course the world economy stagnates.
